"My mission as headteacher is to create a school that is the envy of Cumbria and that engenders a sense of pride from the community it serves."
The values in young people I want to help develop are the same as those I want to see in my own children. I want students at Whitehaven School to try their best in school work and in the way they relate to others. I hope students will seize the opportunities offered in and out of school that will enrich their lives. I want the students to value themselves, to develop a respect for others and for their community. Young people should grow up to value honesty, social justice and integrity and I believe Whitehaven School plays an important part in that learning process. | ![]() |
Education for all learners is a very serious and important matter and a key aim for the school must be for students of all ages to achieve to their full potential. I believe this is achieved through a partnership between the teachers, students and parents. Communication with all parts of the school community is an important issue for me and I understand it works two ways, so within the constraints of a large and busy school I have an open door policy to parents, students and staff. |
Whitehaven School offers opportunities for all across a wide range of experiences and recognises the contributions made by all in the school community. The celebration of success is a key to the development of high esteem for individuals, institutions and communities. It is my intention to work with the school community in its broadest sense to make Whitehaven School all it can be.
