| WHITEHAVEN SCHOOL CHARITY WALK
In 2000 students completed a sponsored walk to raise funds for the Meningitis Research Fund and collected £2,778. In 2005 over 300 former students, parents, teachers and governors completed 20 miles and raised a magnificent £11, 678. The amount of £10,000 was then donated to the palliative care unit (Henderson Suite) at the West Cumberland Hospital and the balance of £1,678. to the West Cumbria Hospice at Home.
We are aiming to do the same 20 mile walk on Saturday 27 March which is the first day of the Easter holidays. The funds raised will go to the Well Child Charity which helps support sick and poorly babies, toddlers and young people and the Teenage Cancer Care Unit at Newcastle Hospital.
Students, former students, parents, teaching and non teaching staff, as well as governors are all welcome to attend. The walk will take place on the cycle track from Whitehaven to Rowrah and there will be refreshment stations every two miles.
Students will be informed of the walk in assemblies and will be supplied with an information letter, indemnity form and when these are returned, an official sponsor form.
The students need not do the whole walk and can walk as far as they want e.g. from the first refreshment station and back would be four miles.
Whitehaven School is committed to a holistic education for all our youngsters and feel it is important for them to know that it is better to given than to receive, especially if it is someone less fortunate than themself.
The students and community of Whitehaven School have proved for years that they are very kind, caring, compassionate and supportive.
Please contact Mr Huck on 01946 595412 or email rmhuck21@live.co.uk to send a letter into school if you want to sponsor him or do the walk yourself.

TESCO VOUCHERS
The scheme is about to kick off again and vouchers can be handed in at reception or to any teacher and they will pass them on. Last year we exchanged our vouchers for headphones and a variety of sports equipment. We will be sharing the equipment gained this year with Tanzania.
